Sunshine Coast alt-pop artist and Sunshine Coast Music Awards finalist Cora has released her debut EP, “Be That Girl”.
The six-track EP brings together recent singles “(boy)cott”, “Be That Girl” and “Gotta Be Done”, alongside three previously unreleased songs.
Its focus track, “She’s So Pretty”, arrives with an official video and was co-written and produced by Chris Collins at his Byron Bay studio. Collins’ credits include Royel Otis, Kita Alexander and The Veronicas.
The song looks at comparison, insecurity and the pressure young women face to constantly change themselves.
“‘She’s So Pretty’ is the definition of navigating being a girl in today’s society,” Cora said.
“It’s about how ‘normal’ it is to compare yourself to others and have that constant feeling that something about you needs to be fixed, never being satisfied.
“I guess for me, learning that no matter what I do, I’ll never feel right or look the way I think I want to look, and society wants me to look.
“I’m sure a lot of girls feel the same way. I often feel insecure, and this song perfectly encapsulates how I feel during those periods.”

Cora’s debut EP follows a breakout year
The 20-year-old artist has been recording music since she was 16 and began releasing music publicly in 2025 with her debut single “(boy)cott”, which has since passed 300,000 Spotify streams.
The track also placed in the top 50 of the Vanda & Young Global Songwriting Competition.
She followed it with “Gotta Be Done” and “Be That Girl”, while building her live profile through a BIGSOUND 2025 showcase appearance in Brisbane.
Cora was also a finalist in three categories at the 2026 Sunshine Coast Music Awards: Young Artist of the Year, Song of the Year for “(boy)cott”, and the Rising Star Award. She also performed at the awards ceremony.
YELO has previously selected Cora’s songs “(boy)cott” and “Be That Girl” for its weekly music segment on ABC Sunshine Coast.
Across the EP, Cora draws on pop-rock and alt-pop while writing about girlhood, confidence and the expectations placed on young women.
“Take a Hike” sees her defend a friend who is being treated badly, while “Your Toy” deals with the heartbreak of falling for the wrong person.
The title track examines the pressure to become a particular kind of girl, while closing song “Gotta Be Done” takes aim at someone who spent years trying to undermine her confidence.
Together, the six songs capture a young artist finding her voice and becoming increasingly direct about how she uses it.
