Gympie Muster’s record-breaking ticket sales, 50,000 sold

September 3, 20242 min read

The Gympie Music Muster has attracted a record-breaking 50,000 country music lovers to Amamoor Creek State Forest this year.

Organisers say visitations to the festival were up by 10,000, compared to 40,000 tickets sold last year.

Earlier this year, the Muster became Queensland Music Awards Festival of the Year (pictured), cementing its status as the state’s premier music and camping event.

Muster CEO Greg Cavanagh says the event’s success is a culmination of hard work and “getting the mix of music right”.

“It’s about providing a wonderful atmosphere that brings generations together in the forest every August,” Greg says.

“We had record four-day pass sales with single-day ticket sales on par with last year, but the trend is for people to come for the whole festival.”

A swag of massive acts this year included Brad Cox, James Johnston, Taylor Moss, Lee Kernaghan, Casey Barnes and Beccy Cole, from August 22-25.

With music ranging from bush ballads to pop country, blues, rock and roots, the Muster delivers something for every music lover.

Good old-fashioned country camping fun

Organisers say another huge drawcard is the festival’s campground atmosphere.

In 2023, the Muster sold out of its four-day season passes, and this year they smashed the record again, but much sooner, forcing organisers to open up more camping spots.

The Muster Mates Campground Competition encourages campers to pimp their campsites, and this year’s winners went to the “Better Class of Losers Bar”, with runners-up “The Cows Bar”.

The Muster is a huge supported of emerging talent, and the Mothertone Gympie Music Muster Talent Search saw Saralyn from Paterson, New South Wales, crowd the Open section winner, and Bundaberg’s Keely Ellen took out the Junior prize.

One of the most-recognised, nation-wide fundraising events, the event generates more than $20 million to community groups and charities.

Organisers have already hit the ground running to plan the 2025 Muster.

The Gympie Music Muster will run from August 28 – 31, 2025 at Amamoor Creek State Forest. Visit https://www.muster.com.au/.
