The Sunshine Coast’s famous entertainment strip at Ocean Street, Maroochydore, is now shining brighter than ever.
Home of live music institution Solbar, Maroochydore’s Ocean Street will receive a streetscape “refresh” by Sunshine Coast Council.
Council has kicked off the improvements with a dazzling new display of decorative lights.
Division 8 Councillor Taylor Bunnag is thrilled to see the popular late-night dining and entertainment precinct receive the extra sparkle.
“This is the first step in our journey to beautify Ocean Street into an even more vibrant and welcoming destination,” Cr Bunnag says.
“We now have warm coloured, low voltage LED lights twisting around palm trees along the street through to the Duporth Avenue intersection.
“The bud lighting is just the beginning of our efforts to enhance the ambience, and create a magical experience for everyone, especially during the evening.
“If you haven’t seen the feature lighting, I encourage locals and visitors to come down, and take in the shine. And enjoy a drink and a bite to eat!”
Council continues work on Ocean Street’s cultural hub
Council says it’s committed to improving the beloved cultural hub with streetscape improvements.
Over the next few months, works will begin to enhance Ocean Street, Maroochydore. It will include refreshed garden beds, repainted kerbs and improved accessible parking bays.
The shared zone will see an eye-catching mural painted across the length of the street.
The design aims to remind drivers to slow down and give way to pedestrians along the often bustling street.
Council has been collaborating with local businesses to add vibrancy and interest to the night economy.
