Marshall Hamburger has made it through to the grand final of Channel Seven’s Australian Idol overnight.
The self-confessed “geek” joins 16-year-old Gisella Colletti from Western Australian, and 17-year-old Iilysh Retallick from New South Wales, in the show’s top three.
Hosted by Ricki-Lee Coulter and Scott Tweedie, Marshall has been a popular contestant with his brilliant piano skills and boyish flair.
The 19-year-old has received strong support from judges Marcia Hines, Kyle Sandilands and Amy Shark.
Shark called him “mesmerising” and one of the “best” she’s seen.
Marshall has performed fabulous renditions of “Benny and the Jets” by Elton John and Daryl Braithwaite’s “As the Days Go By”.

He has also smashed out some big hits by Steve Windwood and Benson Boone.
But it was his earlier rendition of “Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic” by The Police, which left the judges speechless, scoring him one of 30 Golden Tickets.
“Are you for real?” Ricki-Lee says to his mother Kellie Hamburger as they watched him sing in the February audition.
Local artists and husband-and-wife duo, Chris Ah Gee and Jazzella, also reached the show’s top 30.
Marshall is from a well-known musical family, who run a music school in the Noosa hinterland of the Sunshine Coast.
Hamburger Music Productions has schooled many emerging acts, and have been throwing everything behind their son’s success.
Australian Idol returns for a two-part grand final with Marshall, Gisella and Iilysh, across Sunday and Monday.
The finalists are vying for a $100,000 in major prize, which includes a recording package with Hive Sound Studios.
