A new Sunshine Coast nightspot, The Vogue – which has been open for just three months – has cancelled all upcoming shows.
It comes after the venue’s owner was allegedly charged for processing and producing drugs.
The Vogue, a historic theatre built in the 1950s in Nambour (pictured), recently opened as a live music venue.
However, they recently announced on their Facebook page the nightclub had to be temporarily closed.
Several local sources told Yelo the temporary closure related to the building’s ongoing renovation costs and compliancy issues.
Speculation over why The Vogue had to be closed
Social media users turned to community boards to speculate about the closure. Some blamed liquor licensing while others cited “staffing issues”.
One Facebook user says: “It didn’t seem to really suit Nambour if you ask me. Nambour is more of a ‘heritage town’ not a moody vampire night club town’.”
Another person says: “Took years to open and now shut.”
“Shame. It was gorgeous” says.
The Courier Mail reports on Wednesday that owner Trent Laing, 47, appeared in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on July 2, pleading guilty to seven charges.
“The owner of two Sunshine Coast pubs and a string of bottle shops was caught with a stash of drugs as well as a set up to grow his own cannabis when police visited his home,” it reports.
The Vogue announced the closure on June 20, just days after its major long-weekend launch party. The party was hosted by The Groove Lab and featured wildly popular DJ Yussi.
