
Brisbane’s New Bloom Fest and the Drain and One Step Closer sideshow at Kings Beach Tavern will be cancelled this weekend.
New Bloom Fest – headlined by English rock band Basement – was scheduled for Saturday at Fortitude Music Hall.
While Drain and One Step Closer were due to play at Caloundra, on the Sunshine Coast, tomorrow night.
Several shows, including Green Day on the Gold Coast, are being cancelled due to extreme weather conditions caused by Cyclone Alfred.
The Category 2 cyclone is expected to cross South-East Queensland on Thursday night or Friday morning.

Sydney and Melbourne’s Bloom Fest shows are expected to go ahead.
A spokesperson for the festival says: “we have had to make the difficult decision to cancel the Brisbane New Bloom Fest event.
“It was an incredibly hard decision to make for the team, but the safety and wellbeing of all attendees, artists and staff takes priority.
“Thank you for supporting New Bloom Fest in 2025 regardless, and I hope you and your teams are all staying safe in this time!”
A full statement from New Bloom Fest organisers:
“ATTENTION NEW BLOOM FEST QUEENSLAND FRIENDS,
“Due to the recent news of Cyclone Alfred that is forecasted to hit Queensland, New Bloom Festival Brisbane will no longer be able to proceed.
“We are incredibly sad to announce this as so much effort has been put into producing this event but the safety & well being of all our fans, artists and staff takes priority.
“Unfortunately this means the following sideshows will be cancelled as well.
“Thu 6 March: King St Tavern, Sunshine Coast with Drain + One Step Closer.
“Fri 7 March: Valley Loft, Brisbane with Sweet Pill.
“You’ll be contacted from your point of purchase (Ticketmaster or Oztix) in the coming days with your refund/s. No Further action will be required.
“All remaining dates for the rest of Australia will be proceeding as scheduled and we can not wait.
“Thank you for your understanding.”
