Sunshine Coast rock legend Pricey (ex-The Chats) has released his latest single “Bastards Never Change”.
The infectious rock tune boasts true blue grit and some undeniably catchy chorus melodies. Have a listen!
Pricey has been performing with the likes of The Screaming Jets, The Bennies, and Gooch Palms, treating his ever-growing fanbase to lively shows and endless sing-alongs.
Pricey finds inspiration on tour with Screaming Jets
Supporting The Screaming Jets on their recent national tour, Pricey found the lyrical inspiration for his new song, which serves as a reminder to take notice of the life you’re living, and realise things could always be worse.Â
“As we travelled from venue to venue, I found myself gazing out the bus window when I noticed a homeless man holding a cup,” Pricey says.
“In that moment, I didn’t just see him. I saw my reflection. It struck me how lucky I am to be living my dream, touring with a rock band, having fun, and doing what I love.
“This song isn’t about that man, it’s about me appreciating the blessings I have and recognising the stark contrast of our lives.
“‘Bastards Never Change’ is my way of expressing gratitude and resilience, inviting listeners to reflect on their own journeys.”
Solo career taking flight since leaving The Chats
As a founding member, songwriter and ex-guitarist of The Chats, Pricey exploded onto the scene in the late 2010’s – touring the world with the band like Iggy Pop, Queens Of The Stone Age, and The Offspring.
Since leaving the band in 2022, he has chosen to focus on his solo career, making a name for himself with his debut record “On The Job”, and a string of singles including “Smile” which he made with his childhood mate Wigs.
With 250K+ streams across his discography (including 100k for 2022 single “Big Sky” alone), Pricey has been met with praise from the industry and fans alike.
He’ll be celebrating the release of “Bastards Never Change” with three dates in New South Wales next month, and will support legendary US band Wheatus across the country in January and February.
