Psychedelic surf-rockers Thirst Trap brought their high-energy five-piece to Nambour on Friday night.
The Northern Rivers group are currently on their six-stop “Day Away Tour”, which finishes off at Cabarita Beach Bowls Club on February 8.
It was a night brimming with loud riffs and genre-blurring sounds, kicked off with two dynamic support sets from Nuffin Butta and The Lipsticks. Both bands are from our sun-drenched shores, and bring a unique flair to the stage.
Represented by Yama-Nui Records, The Lipsticks are an emerging fusion-trio, offering heavy riffs and an infectious energy. And after arriving mid-set, I only wish I’d arrived sooner. Nuffin Butta brought their laid-back coastal rock and indie jams, which are always a treat to experience live.

If you’re into indie-rock, reggae, hip-hop or funk, you’re going to love the sounds coming out of Thirst Trap. By the time they took the stage, The Presynct was packed with eager fans. The venue’s retro-regal dĂ©cor and intimate atmosphere made for the perfect backdrop.

A performance with showmanship, Thirst Trap seamlessly blend both energetic anthems with more introspective tracks. This is the kind of band that can get, even the guy leaning against the back wall who doesn’t dance, tapping his feet.
Playing all their original tracks, they offer smooth vocals, winding intros leading into melodic rhythm sections, and sing-along choruses. Thirst Trap are a versatile group with a diverse sound, which can range from heavier rock right down to reggae bop.
If the boys are ever back on the Coast you need to make sure you catch them.
