Your weekend guide to Horizon Festival, live music, art, family events and Mother’s Day across the Sunshine Coast.
Mother’s Day weekend is bringing plenty of movement to the Sunshine Coast, with OPIUO, Tijuana Cartel and Raw Ordio landing at Blackflag Coolum, and the final days of Horizon Festival rolling through Nambour, Baringa, Moffat Beach and beyond.
There’s also a big Sunday for mums, families and community crews, from the Mother’s Day Classic at Buddina to the beautifully ridiculous Mummalympics at Blackflag Coolum.

OPIUO + Tijuana Cartel + Raw Ordio

A big electronic lineup for Saturday night, with OPIUO, Tijuana Cartel and Raw Ordio bringing bass-heavy festival energy to Coolum.
Namba Artist Market
Location: The Old Ambulance Station, Nambour
Date: Saturday May 9
Time: 9am–3pm
Namba Artist Market brings handmade art, vinyl, ceramics, textiles and curios to The Old Ambo as part of Horizon Festival, with food, coffee and more creative programming around the site.
BLAK OUT
Location: LANTANA Space, Moffat Beach
Date: Friday May 1–Sunday May 10
Time: Exhibition open across the festival period
BLAK OUT is a First Nations-led exhibition and creative program at LANTANA Space, bringing visual art, storytelling, workshops and community-led conversations into the final weekend of Horizon Festival.
Family Film Night: Babe
Location: Baringa Forest Park, Baringa
Date: Saturday May 9
Time: From 5.30pm
Horizon Festival is screening Babe under the stars, with live music, food, popcorn and a family-friendly park setting before the film rolls.
Phil and The Blanks + Tribal Unity
Location: Tribe Clubhouse, Redcliffe
Date: Friday May 8
Time: From 2.30pm
Phil and The Blanks lead a free, all-ages mini-fest at Tribe Clubhouse, with Whitts End, The Bykes, One D Minus, Hissteria, Daylight Vandal, Burnout (Redline) and Funhouse also on the bill.
Mother’s Day Classic Sunshine Coast
Location: Coopers Lookout Park, Buddina
Date: Sunday May 10
Time: Event village from 6.30am
The Mother’s Day Classic returns to the Sunshine Coast, with locals walking and running to support breast and ovarian cancer research.
Mummalympics
Location: Blackflag Coolum, Coolum Beach
Date: Sunday May 10
Time: 12pm–2pm
Mummalympics is Blackflag’s gloriously silly Mother’s Day showdown, with mum-versus-mum games, prizes, family laughs and the title of Queen of the Coast up for grabs.
Horizon Dance Hall
Location: Hungerford Hall, Nambour State College
Date: Sunday May 10
Time: Final day of Horizon Festival
Horizon Dance Hall closes out the festival with a free, all-ages celebration of music and movement, including dance performances, demos, workshops, food and markets.
Coming later this month
SCX 2026 lands at Alexandra Headland from May 29–31, with jetski freeride, skatepark action and the Rickter AUS Open across the beach and skate park precinct.

On the Gold Coast, The Bookbinder continues at HOTA from May 6–10, Black Foxxes play elsewhere in Surfers Paradise on Friday May 8, and Techno Takeover hits Mo’s Desert Clubhouse in Burleigh Heads the same night.
