Scene guide

Caloundra live music scene

In Caloundra, live music is part of everyday social life.

People come for dinner, drinks and familiar company, with venues like Norton Music Factory and Kings Beach Tavern anchoring much of the area’s live music activity.

While the region said goodbye to the mid-sized room The Station at nearby Bokarina, a new venue is already on the horizon. Construction began on Aura Hotel at Stockland Aura in April 2026, with the Comiskey Group project expected to be completed in late 2027. Plans for the venue include a 2,500-capacity live music room.

The scene is shaped by dependable rooms, established gig nights and steady local crowds. Touring pub-circuit artists appear here alongside cover bands and local performers.

Where Caloundra fits

Where Caloundra fits in the Coast’s live music circuit

Caloundra sits between the grassroots energy of Nambour and the bigger touring pull of Maroochydore. Rather than functioning as a nightlife strip or development hub, it operates as a stable performance circuit built on repeat audiences and consistent bookings.

The district is also tied to larger shifts in the region’s entertainment future, including the proposed Aura Hotel development and the still-unfolding Coochin Fields festival project.

When to go out in Caloundra

Caloundra live music runs steadily through the week, with Friday evenings and Sunday afternoon sessions often the busiest times.

Checking venue listings is the best way to see what is on locally.
