Scene guide
Maroochydore is one of the Sunshine Coast’s biggest live music hubs, with larger rooms, touring acts and a stronger nightlife pull than most other parts of the region.
The loss of Solbar leaves a real gap, but Maroochydore’s live music identity has not disappeared with it. Venues including Pulse Nightclub, Parental Guidance and Double Barrel Bar are now helping carry that next chapter.
Maroochydore still holds a central place in the Coast’s live music and nightlife map, shaped by touring acts, later nights and a stronger after-dark pull than many smaller local centres.

These venues sit at the centre of Maroochydore’s changing live music and nightlife map, from late-night rooms to pub stages and post-Solbar operators.

Touring and nightlife hub
Maroochydore has long been one of the Coast’s clearest touring and nightlife hubs, with bigger rooms, later nights and a stronger after-dark pull than many smaller local centres. Even after the loss of Solbar, the precinct remains active, with newer operators and nightlife venues helping carry that next phase.
Pulse Nightclub is now part of the precinct’s next phase, bringing DJs, electronic acts and event-based programming into the late-night mix.
Parental Guidance has also become part of that newer nightlife layer, with themed events, DJ nights and occasional live performances.
Double Barrel Bar is another venue helping fill out Maroochydore’s changing after-dark culture, adding to the suburb’s current mix of music, nightlife and event programming.
Duporth Tavern continues to support the pub circuit, presenting weekend bands, cover acts and accessible live entertainment in a classic coastal pub setting.

When to go out in Maroochydore
Live music and nightlife activity peak on Friday and Saturday nights, with touring shows, DJ events and bigger crowds usually landing across the weekend.
Ocean Street remains the suburb’s clearest after-dark strip, while Sunday sessions and one-off events add to the mix. Because some venues such as Old Soul, Pulse and Parental Guidance do not really get going until later, checking listings ahead of time is still the best way to see what is on.
Nearby coastal and regional rooms
Together, these venues still make the Maroochydore area one of the Coast’s most visible live music and nightlife pockets, even as the local pecking order changes.
