Maroochydore live music scene

Maroochydore is one of the Sunshine Coast’s biggest live music and nightlife hubs, with larger rooms, touring acts and a stronger after-dark pull than most parts of the region.

The closure of Solbar left a real gap, but Maroochydore’s live music identity has not disappeared with it. Venues including Pulse Nightclub, Parental Guidance, Duporth Tavern and Double Barrel Bar are now helping carry the next chapter.

Touring and nightlife hub

Maroochydore after Solbar

For more than two decades, Solbar gave Maroochydore a clear live music centre. Its closure shifted the local map, but it did not remove the suburb’s role as one of the Coast’s busiest after-dark areas.

Maroochydore still has the bigger-room energy, late-night foot traffic and event-driven programming that smaller local centres often cannot carry. The scene now feels more spread out, with nightlife rooms, pub stages and newer operators sharing the load.

When to go out

Friday and Saturday still do the heavy lifting

Live music and nightlife activity peak on Friday and Saturday nights, with touring shows, DJ events and bigger crowds usually landing across the weekend.

Ocean Street remains the suburb’s clearest after-dark strip, while Sunday sessions and one-off events add to the mix. Because some venues do not really get going until later, checking listings ahead of time is still the best way to see what is on.
