Blak Day Out will return to Brisbane this winter, bringing Dan Sultan, Beddy Rays, Becca Hatch, Jem Cassar-Daley and Rox Lavi to The Princess Theatre.
The all-ages First Nations music event will take over the Woolloongabba venue on July 24, as part of Open Season’s 2026 program.
Presented by Open Season and Blak Social, Blak Day Out is returning for its fifth edition, with a lineup celebrating music, culture, community and First Nations artists from across the continent.
The event is curated by Alethea Beetson, founder of Blak Social, who said Blak Day Out was about joy, music and community.
“This event is about joy, music and community, bringing people together to experience the incredible talent of Indigenous artists across genres,” Beetson said.
“We’ve always had world-class artists in our communities. Blak Day Out is about creating a platform that matches that talent and energy.”
A major First Nations lineup
The 2026 lineup is led by Dan Sultan, one of Australia’s most celebrated singer-songwriters and a seven-time ARIA Award winner.
Sultan’s 2023 self-titled album earned the ARIA Award for Best Adult Contemporary Album, alongside nominations for Best Solo Artist and Best Independent Release.
He will be joined by Queensland four-piece Beddy Rays, known for their high-energy live shows, feel-good chaos and Gold-certified anthem “Sobercoaster”.
The lineup also features Becca Hatch, the Kamilaroi and Samoan singer-songwriter whose blend of R&B, pop and dance has made her one of Australia’s most exciting contemporary voices.
Indie-pop artist Jem Cassar-Daley will also perform, bringing soulful vocals and honest songwriting to the bill.
A proud Gumbaynggirr and Bundjalung woman, Cassar-Daley has collected a string of awards since her 2021 debut, including NIMA New Talent of the Year, QMA Indigenous Artist of the Year, QMA Best Pop and Song of the Year.
Gomeroi artist Rox Lavi rounds out the lineup, bringing a raw and evolving sound shaped by rap, poetry and lived experience.
Back after a sold-out year
Blak Day Out follows a sold-out 2025 event, which featured Christine Anu, Thelma Plum and Miss Kaninna.
The event has built a reputation for bringing major names together with exciting new voices, creating a space centred on Indigenous music, storytelling, resistance and joy.
Blak Day Out is an all-ages event and welcomes music lovers of all backgrounds.
