September 27, 20243 min read

The iconic 112-year-old Imperial Hotel Eumundi on the Sunshine Coast has unveiled its recently renovated spaces.

The new look includes an elegant front bar, gaming room and TAB, now open to the public.

The opening of the three sections signifies the completion of the first phase of the hotel’s comprehensive rebuild.

Stage two of the renovation will begin almost immediately, including construction of the Coast’s largest kids’ games room.

We can also expect a new restaurant, beer garden, bar and band room.

The pub is also popular live music venue and has attracted artists including; The Whitlams, Ben Lee and The Beautiful Girls.

An iconic hinterland pub for 112 years

The long-standing and cherished community landmark is a well-known fixture of the hinterland.

The hotel has experienced many transformations over the years, including a complete rebuild after it burnt down in 1926.

Acquired by the Comiskey Group in late 2023, it sits directly across from the famous Eumundi Markets.

The group also owns local entertainment venues, Eatons Hill Hotel, Sandstone Point and The Doonan.

Home to Eumundi Brewery, the new front bar features pressed-metal ceilings, heritage tiles, brass details, and antique mirrors.

The wood-panelled walls have been decorated in historical photos, adding a cosy, old English ambiance.

KP Architects and interior design studio, CTRL Space, worked with the Comiskey Group on their latest project.

Comiskey Group Director Rob Comiskey is excited to celebrate the hotel’s rich history throughout the renovation.

“From the very start, the brief remained the same; we wanted to celebrate the history of the pub,” Rob says.

“The Imperial Hotel is over 100 years old, and that is, and always will be, the most unique part about it!

“It has changed owners throughout the years and has been re-imagined numerous times.

“But one thing has remained the same – it’s been a local favourite watering hole.

“As the new custodians of this incredible property, we want to keep it that way.

“We have put a lot of effort into the renovation and have plenty more to go!

“We are very much looking forward to seeing the community enjoy the space.”

The Imperial Hotel’s completed look is expected to be finished by March 2025.
