Katie Noonan’s AVÉ brings Tim Winton-inspired works to Eudlo Hall

April 14, 20262 min read

ARIA Award-winning artist Katie Noonan will lead the Australian Vocal Ensemble in a special Sunshine Coast hinterland performance at Eudlo Hall on April 19.

“The Long Moment” is an intimate afternoon performance featuring newly commissioned Australian vocal works, inspired by the writing of Tim Winton.

Set in the historic Eudlo Hall, the show brings together four of Australia’s leading singers: soprano Katie Noonan, mezzo-soprano Hannah Fraser, tenor Louis Hurley and bass-baritone Andrew O’Connor.

The program includes new works by Australian composers including Emma Jayakumar, Ruben Davies, Lachlan Skipworth, Aaron Wyatt, Andrew O’Connor and Katie Noonan.

Drawing on Winton’s writing, the music reflects themes of place, memory and the Australian landscape.

AVÉ has built its reputation around commissioning and performing new Australian vocal music, with more than 60 new works premiered since the ensemble’s formation.

Katie Noonan said music could “comfort, connect and restore” in the moments people needed it most.

“There’s something deeply special about gathering together, sharing stories and sound, and spending time with music created by Australian artists,” she said.

The Eudlo performance continues AVÉ’s work taking new Australian music into regional communities, with the Sunday afternoon show offering a rare chance to experience the ensemble in a close community setting.

The performance takes place at Eudlo Hall on Sunday 19 April at 3.30pm, with afternoon tea provided.

Tickets are available through the Australian Vocal Ensemble website.
