Sunshine Coast music royalty Katie Noonan is gathering up her mini rockstar cohorts for a big party at Eumundi School of Arts on August 31.
Katie and her saxophonist husband Zac Hurren founded Eumundi School of Music (ESOM) eight years ago, gifting music scholarships to almost 250 young people.
The Eumundi School of Music Mini Festival will showcase various graduating alumni and their bands, with 70 independent musicians performing from 1-10pm.
“The program has gone from strength to strength over the years, and is something we’re all so
very proud of,” Katie says.
“Our young rockers have had opportunities to be mentored by and share the stage with stellar musicians and bands, including Tim Rogers, Frente, Abby Dobson, Clare Bowditch, Jack Carty and Dallas Frasca.”
Past graduates have performed on festival stages including; Woodford Folk Festival, Horizon Festival, The Little Day Out, and The Gympie Muster.
Katie says many of her alumni are now working musicians or studying at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music and Sunshine Coast University.
“It will be quite the reunion! We look forward to showcasing the stars of tomorrow and sharing our patch of creative paradise with you.”
Bands performing include; Jam & Scones (with 2016 alumni Oscar Long and Zach Hughes) Ampersand (with 2021 alumni Jed Green, Isi Semmler and Orlando Hamilton-Craig), Ultraviolets (with 2022/23 alumni Senti Scanes, Zyana Scanes, Nate Campbell and Nate Morgan), Unmuted (with 2022/23 alumni Rafael Estrada, Isaac Green, William Mc Wha, Nate Campbell, Lennon Hall and George Hillhouse), Whitt’s End (with 2018-20 alumni Dexter Hurren and brothers Jarvis and Saxon Whittaker) and Layla Havana (2021 alumni) and band.
There will be food and drinks available, and free craft workshops with Mount Ninderry Art House, from 3-5pm.
Tickets are $40 adults, $30 concession, $20 children, with kids under 5 free, and can be purchased at Eumundi School of Music Mini Festival.
