Review: Alpha Wolf @ The Station, 8/5/25

May 12, 20253 min read

The Station became a haven for metal-core enthusiasts when Aussie legends Alpha Wolf headlined a night of full-throttle intensity on Thursday.

The Terrible Days Across Australia tour featured a formidable lineup with performances from Malevolence (UK), Zuko (Brisbane), and Inertia (Sydney).

Zuko opened the show, bringing a raw and punchy set that stood out as one of the night’s most energetic. Blending metallic hardcore with elements of hip-hop and punk, breakdowns landed with enough force to keep the pit moving. Zuko didn’t waste time trying to win people over—they kicked the door in and made it clear they belong on stages like this.

Inertia followed, delivering a set that seamlessly blended electronic elements with industrial metal. Their dark-electro and electro-industrial soundscapes set a haunting tone, captivating attendees with pulsating rhythms and atmospheric layers. The band’s performance showcased their unique ability to merge genres, creating a sound both innovative and immersive.

Malevolence took the stage next, bringing their signature blend of groove metal and hardcore to the forefront. The band unleashed a torrent of heavy riffs and aggressive vocals, igniting the crowd and setting the stage for the headliners. Their performance was a testament to their reputation for delivering powerful live shows that resonate with intensity and passion.

Alpha Wolf closed the night with a performance that was nothing short of explosive. Launching into their set with “A Terrible Day For Rain”, it was full steam ahead from the jump. The band delivered a relentless barrage of nu metalcore anthems such as Sucks 2 Suck, Sub Zero and finishing the set with Akudama. Vocalist Lochie Keogh’s commanding presence and the band’s tight instrumentation had the crowd in a frenzy, with mosh pits and crowd surfing on repeat.

This show was a masterclass in live heavy music, showcasing a diverse lineup that catered to a wide range of tastes within the genre. From Inertia’s electronic-infused metal to Alpha Wolf’s crushing headliners, the night was a testament to the vitality and diversity of the heavy music scene that continues to thrive on the Sunshine Coast.
