The Killers’ show-stopping performance during Brisbane’s severe heatwave

The Killers have proven they aren’t afraid to stop the music after a fan reportedly collapsed at their Brisbane show last night, during Brisbane’s severe heatwave.

The three-day heatwave warning was issued by the Bureau of Meteorology on Sunday, when 30,000 punters were scorched by the extreme heat attending Good Things Festival.

Queensland faces almost 40 degree weather in some areas of the state, and residents are bracing themselves for fast winds and storms.

While the conditions are expected to ease today, it wasn’t without some drama at The Killers’ show at Brisbane Entertainment Centre.

The Sydney Morning Herald reported that frontman Brandon Flowers had to hit pause on the music mid-song to allow for a woman who had reportedly collapsed in the mosh pit.

Flowers had to stop again some time later after a rowdy male fan was removed from the premises.

Residents are asked to take care in the heat, especially when attending major events with large crowds and are reminded to stay hydrated and out of the sun.

Heatwave safety advice

  • Severe heatwaves can be dangerous for many people, especially older people, babies, children, pregnant and breastfeeding women, people with medical conditions and people who are unwell.
  • Seek a place to keep cool, such as your home, a library, community centre or shopping centre.
  • Close your windows and draw blinds, curtains or awnings early in the day to keep the heat out of your home.
  • If available, use fans or air-conditioners to keep cool.

For information on staying safe during a heatwave go to the QLD Department of Health web page.
