Work with YELO

Editorial coverage for local music, venues and independent culture.

YELO is a Sunshine Coast–based music and culture publication documenting local artists, venues and independent scenes.

Working with YELO means collaborating on editorial coverage that gives live music, releases and cultural moments context, care and longevity – beyond a single night or announcement.

This work sits between journalism and documentation. It’s not advertising and it’s not hype. It’s about accurately capturing what’s happening on the ground and giving it a lasting place in the archive.

YELO works with artists, venues, promoters and cultural organisers to document shows, events, releases and community activity as they happen, then present them through considered storytelling, photography and distribution.

Coverage is shaped to suit the moment – from all-ages punk shows to local venue nights, regional tours and community events. The focus is on clarity, atmosphere and accuracy rather than promotion.

“Penny is one of the hardest working women on the Sunny Coast. It’s been such a joy to have her join the Sunshine Coast Music Industry Collective, advocating for the local music industry alongside me and the rest of the team. You’ll also hear her chatting with me on ABC Tuesday mornings about new local music.”

– Sarah Howells, Radio Broadcaster, ABC Sunshine Coast

Catch Sarah and Penny on ABC Sunshine Coast Tuesdays

ABC Radio Sunshine Coast’s Sarah Howells joins YELO’s editor-in-chief Penny Brand to bring the Sunshine Coast music scene to life – on air.

Together they share two new songs every week, and talk about all the best gigs coming up across the Sunshine Coast and Queensland.

It’s real culture, real community, real talk.

Every Tuesday, 10am, ABC Sunshine Coast.
