The live music rooms holding the Sunshine Coast together

From The Presynct in Nambour to Blackflag in Coolum, Kings Beach Tavern in Caloundra and beachside rooms in Peregian and Noosa, the Sunshine Coast’s live music scene is less one strip and more a regional treasure hunt.

This guide follows the venues, band rooms, pubs, breweries, theatres, community spaces and odd little corners where gigs actually happen across the Coast.

Start here

Four doors into the Sunshine Coast live music scene

The Sunshine Coast does not have one obvious live music strip. It has pockets. Start in Nambour, follow the noise to Coolum, head south to Caloundra, then finish up north in Noosa.

Start in Nambour The Presynct is the Coast’s scrappy independent heart: touring bands, local lifers, loud rooms and proper gig sweat.

Head to Coolum Blackflag Brewing brings the heavier side of the Coast into focus, with beer, mini-festivals and louder touring shows.

Go south Kings Beach Tavern is one of Caloundra’s key rooms for touring acts, pub-stage shows and bigger live music nights.

Finish up north The J anchors the northern end with theatre-style shows, seated touring acts, comedy and community events.

Stop two

Coolum to Peregian: beach towns with volume

The northern beach strip is where coastal pubs, breweries, civic rooms and smaller bars carry a surprising amount of the Coast’s touring and local music traffic.
