The live music rooms holding the Sunshine Coast together

From The Presynct in Nambour to Blackflag’s rooms in Coolum and Mooloolaba, Peregian Beach Hotel, Kings Beach Tavern in Caloundra and theatre-style spaces in Noosa, the Sunshine Coast’s live music scene is less one strip and more a regional treasure hunt.

This guide follows the venues, band rooms, pubs, breweries, theatres, community spaces and odd little corners where gigs actually happen across the Coast.

Start here

Five doors into the Sunshine Coast live music scene

The Sunshine Coast does not have one obvious live music strip. It has pockets. Start in Nambour, follow the louder touring shows to Blackflag, stop for beachside sessions at Peregian Beach Hotel, head south to Caloundra, then finish up north in Noosa.

Start in Nambour The Presynct is the Coast’s scrappy independent heart: touring bands, local lifers, loud rooms and proper gig sweat.

Follow Blackflag Blackflag Brewing connects two very different rooms: a larger industrial touring space in Coolum and a smaller back-alley bar in Mooloolaba built around free gigs, DJs and local collaborations.

Stop at Peregian Peregian Beach Hotel brings local performers, touring artists, DJs and weekend sessions into the middle of the village’s beachside social life.

Go south Kings Beach Tavern is one of Caloundra’s key rooms for touring acts, pub-stage shows and bigger live music nights.

Finish up north The J anchors the northern end with theatre-style shows, seated touring acts, comedy and community events.

Nambour: the grassroots heart of Sunshine Coast music

If you want to understand Sunshine Coast live music beyond the beach postcard, start in Nambour. This is where the region’s rougher, weirder and more independent energy often shows up first.

Stop two

Coolum to Peregian: two beach towns carrying serious live music weight

This coastal stretch links Blackflag’s industrial touring room with Peregian Beach Hotel’s regular beachside program, giving the northern beaches two very different ways to catch local and touring music.

Featured touring room

Blackflag Brewing Coolum

Blackflag’s Coolum compound gives the Coast a larger industrial room for punk, rock, metal, touring acts, album launches and mini-festivals, without losing the brewery’s loose local energy.

Peregian Beach Hotel

Peregian Beach Hotel brings local performers, touring artists, DJs and weekend sessions into a busy beachside pub, making live music part of the wider village rhythm rather than a once-off extra.
